Zechariah 4:6 “Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.”

It is not through our own strength, power or effort that we will achieve in this life, but by the Spirit of God. We do well to remember the difference He makes in our lives. He is the great Enabler our lives give testimony to. As the line of the song goes:

“Where are my mountains, when in You I abide?” Indeed!

Zechariah 4:7 continues on, “Who art thou, O great mountain?…..thou shalt become a plain…..He shall bring forth the headstone…..crying, Grace, grace…..”

Consider the greatness of God. Selah.

God is bigger than the “mountain” and His peace is far greater than any “storm” in our lives. He is Lord of all, but as we allow Him to take that place in our lives, He takes us on from “glory to glory,” 2 Cor. 3:18. His daily challenge to us is, “Prove Me now!”

We are the sons/daughters of the Living God, heirs of His promises. We have much to boast in God about – His glorious majesty, immeasurable power and ineffable love! We have something tremendous inside of us that is “of God,” the Indwelling Christ, the Light of the world. Let us walk as children of that Light, we are not orphans! So often we approach God as if He does not know us, He is the omniscient One – knowing all.

Instead of being true to what God says about me as His son and heir, do I walk in a false humility? Let me recognise that my confidence is in our great God.

What God says about me is bigger than what I am.

GOD’S WORD DOES NOT DESCRIBE ME, IT CREATES ME!

Consider the story of Gideon in Judges 6. Gideon was a frightened, despondent man, but the angel of the Lord appeared to him and creation was imparted as he spoke, “The Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of valour!” God’s word to me creates, if I receive it! Read the remainder of the story and note how God’s living word changed an insignificant, fearful man into a mighty man of valour.

Remember…what you believe rules you! Test what you are believing is in line with the truth. If I believe a lie, it becomes truth to me as I choose it and walk in it!

Our rebellious hearts will often convince us that we “can’t” do something, when often it is our stubborn unbelief that “won’t” do a certain thing. We are vessels of choice. Hebrews 3:12 “Beware lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God.” God does not mince His words, He calls unbelief evil.

Let us choose to be what our Heavenly Father created us to be, allowing Him to change us “from glory to glory,” walking this earth as sons and heirs of His great promises, bringing glory to His great name and resting in the sunshine of His presence in our daily lives.
