Have you considered the challenge of maintaining the position of total dependency on the Living God? The challenge comes after God has equipped and enabled us for His purpose, then not too far down the road of His blessing, I can begin to take the credit for His enabling and think it is something to do with me. The credit is due to God alone, it is His enabling power. Scripture declares, “Thine is the glory,” and “My glory I will not give to another.”

Do I recognise the awesomeness of this holy ground? Selah.

I need to look back and remember the fear of change for the new chapters of life, to consider the doubts and how slow I was to occupy and fulfil God’s purpose for me in the new ground of change. In God’s love and mercy, gradually he encourages us to step in to that place that He has for us.

There is an unction in life that is only fuelled by the Holy Spirit. If I have any thoughts of dependency that is not on Him then I am out of order. “Of Him, through Him and to Him are all things.”

The reason we can be so reluctant to change is because we resist it, sometimes because it means leaving the security of our comfort zone, but also because it requires abandoning ourselves, in faith, and total dependency on the Lord.

Change should be an every day experience, “changed from glory to glory.” 2 Corinthians 3:18, “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

Because we resist change, God graciously works with us to bring it about. The amazement we feel when it happens is the evidence of our previous resistance. When I feel confident in the new ground, that is the place to remember where God has brought me from. My confidence must always be in the Lord, not in me.

The challenge is to always be moving in to what God requires. Am I in the place of total dependency on God, being carried by Him and recognising this fact? When I become comfortable and familiar with my circumstances, the danger is that I can lose that holy and treasured place of sensitivity to the Voice of God and the Whispers of Jesus.

The following chorus is a profound prayer:

“Keep me true, Lord Jesus, keep me true,
There’s a race that I must run,
There are victories to be won,
Give me power, every hour, to be true.”

There is no resistance from a flower seed planted in the right environment. It grows and becomes what it has been created to be, fulfilling it’s purpose, displaying it’s beauty but taking no credit for it. It is the handy work of the Creator. We, too, are encouraged to grow in the ever changing circumstances of our environment!

2 Peter 3:18 “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Him be glory, both now and forever.”
