In Co 11:3 Paul expressed a concern that “as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds could be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.”
In any walk of life, foundations are vitally important. They are the beginning of everything, and in the beginning God’s creation was perfect. There was an innocence and simplicity in Adam And Eve’s beginning that was lost when they partook of the forbidden tree! As stated in the above scripture their minds were corrupted from the simplicity of their walk with God.
A corrupted life is a spoilt life or a life out of order. Let us get one thing settled from God’s view point, Heb 10:10 declares ‘we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once and for all‘! Heb 10:14 ‘For by one offering He has perfected for ever them that are sanctified’. Calvary’s work is a perfect and finished work.
So I ask ” why do I experience so many problems in my life ? Problems with my relationships, with my health, with my finances, problems at work and in so many different circumstances.” Surely if I am real, I will admit, that my life in God is anything but perfect. There is a simple answer if I will go back to the beginning where it all went wrong. That is the only place I can begin to get the foundations right and so bring my life into order as God purposes.
The simplicity of my walk in Jesus can be lost in the theological fog of corruption which stems from a knowledge which comes from the wrong source.
God forbids us to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil which has a corrupting effect on our minds, but instructs us to eat from the ‘tree of life’ which has a sanctifying effect on our minds. Our life is a demonstration of consequences from one or the other.
When I first bowed the knee at the foot of the cross and accepted Jesus into my heart, God began the process of bringing me into the finished work of Jesus Christ. But do I understand that God is not in time but is eternal and through the eyes of eternity God looks on time and sees the beginning from the end ?
So back to the beginning! Every time I partake from the wrong tree I have the disfunctional consequences of a life out of order. But do not be discouraged! Every time I partake from the right tree, I have the consequences of a life in order. Little by little, line upon line the Holy Spirit is teaching me to live from the right source. Because I am not aware of eating from the wrong source, it does not mean I am not doing so. I may not know where I lost ‘the peace that passes all my understanding’ but because I have lost it, I am wrong.
This is where I need the Holy Spirit of God to convict and convince me of my error. The safest place for me is in truth which keeps me stable, the fruit being peace. The correct order of God produces good fruit: joy and peace etc. Gal 5:22
Peace has a purpose and when I have lost it, (revealed by my hearts bad attitude to circumstances) I need to repent and ‘humble myself under the mighty hand of God’ 1 Peter 5:6 In so doing my peace returns and my life is back in order with God. ‘The peace of God which passes all our understanding, keeps our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus’ Phil 4:7
Wherever there is strife in my life, there is confusion, James 3:16 ‘but God is not the author of confusion but peace.’
So by God’s mercy and grace we pray that He will by revelation bring us back into that wonderful place of a life in order, walking, moment by moment in His presence, expressing His life in the authority He has divested in us by the indwelling of Jesus, His dear Son.
Psalm 37:23.24 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: he delighteth in his in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand!!
