In Ephesians chapters 2 and 3, Paul expounds on the unsearchable riches of Jesus Christ made available to us through Calvary. Ephesians 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, that God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” It would appear there are two types of works to get involved in – either self orientated works resulting in my glory and “wood, hay and stubble,” (1 Corinthians 3:10-23) which will be burnt up, or the good works, quoted above, that God has prepared and ordained for us to walk in for divine purpose. We are on a joyous journey of discovery! As we listen to the direction of our Guide, the Holy Spirit, we learn and follow and find that every day can be a new experience of discovery, as we access another measure of divine life and fellowship with our Heavenly Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Eternal life for the Believer begins on earth. Jesus declared in John 17:3, “This is life eternal, that they might know Thee, the only true God, and His Son, Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.” We do not just want to know about Him, we want to know Him personally in all His fullness.

Jesus said, John 17:4, talking to His Father, “…I have finished the work that You gave me to do.” Jesus was able to say these words with all confidence from a position of fulfillment and that we, through our blood bought salvation, may enter in and enjoy our standing in Him. It’s all in Him! Acts 17:28, “In Him we live and move and have our being.” A Holy Ghost deposit was placed in my heart when I heard and embraced His word and my standing is now in Jesus and His finished work of Calvary. As I live my daily life in gratitude to Him, I discover He truly is the “Way” and the “Door” to the works God has ordained for me to walk in. Humility is the key that opens the “Door.”

Jesus was the embodiment of all truth and transparency. In His discourse with Philip He declared,”He that has seen Me has seen the Father,” John 14:9. Truth is an acquired taste. My flesh does not want to die, but when I make a right choice before the Lord, the Holy Spirit comes along side of my choice and pours the oil of His enablement into me and I discover that “His yoke is easy, His burden is light,” and the joy of my salvation is also released into my being!

Our Heavenly Father desires intimacy with us, just as He had with Adam and Eve in Eden before the Fall, and the “new heart” we are given when we are born again, craves that same intimacy with our Father God. We may fill our lives with many things and get side-tracked from our true calling, but only Jesus will satisfy our souls.

How do I walk in truth and transparency? God is light/truth. Jesus was so transparent that He demonstrated His Father in His chosen lifestyle and He is our Pattern Man. 1 John 1:5-7 “…God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” It is my responsibility to walk in the truth/light God has revealed to me. It is not my business to put others right, but to get right, live right before my Father. His Holy Spirit shows me every patch of darkness in my thoughts and heart that He wants to dispel on a daily basis. As I choose to walk in His ways and as I learn to walk in transparency, the Indwelling Christ shines forth from me, reaching out to a world seeking reality, with real people without religion. Along the way we may make many mistakes, we have all known failure, but we are not God’s mistake. We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for the ordained works He has prepared for us. God is not a “dirty worker,” He is a finisher! It is He that began the work in us for the extension of His kingdom and glory:

Philippians 1:6 “Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it to the day of Jesus Christ.”

Hebrews 13:5-6 “….be content with such things as you have, for He has said, I will never leave you nor forsake you. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper and I will not fear what man shall do to me.”

My security is false if it is based on eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Everyone likes to feel secure in knowing what tomorrow holds, financial security, job security…the list is endless. But these are all fallible. True security is in God alone and He desires to bring us all to a place of complete rest and trust in His all-sufficiency. I have to abandon my independence to become God dependent and live the sacrificial life….but this is a glorious place – His life for mine! The Indwelling Christ living in and through me, to others.

A prominent minister being interviewed on television was asked, “How can people help with your ministry?” The dear man did not ask for finance or more workers to join his team, He could have and also taken advantage of the prime time spot on T.V. He simply and humbly replied, “People can help by being more real with Jesus!” A challenge for all of us indeed!…..and the greater will include the lesser for the glory of God! Let’s get real!
