In John 15 Jesus describes the function of the Vine and the production of it’s fruit. John 15:8 says “Herein is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit”. God’s design is that a branch abides in the vine – it is the order of God.

We are each precisely designed to display the nature of Christ to the glory of God. Do I rest in His design for me? Do I recognise the stamp of divinity upon my life? The branches do not focus on producing fruit, they abide in the Vine – the source of our abundant life, and the fruit grows with no stress, strain or awareness of itself. It fulfils the divine plan for it’s life and others enjoy it’s fruit.

Am I fulfilling divine destiny in the life God has given me for His glory? Have I discovered the joy of God’s rest in abiding? He created me “in His likeness”, “for His good pleasure” to bring glory to His name.

“Herein is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit”.
